ALL THE THINGS 2016

It’s the end of 2016. It’s weird for me to say I think this is the first year
in a really long time where I’m not panicked
that the year is almost over. For once, I’m ready for the next year to come. I feel like I took in every day More than I took in every day of the previous year. For me, personally, my personal life, I’ve had a much better year than I had last year. I feel really blessed and grateful. I was given so many amazing opportunities this year. This past January, Warner Brothers invited me out
to the Harry Potter celebration in Orlando. I got to see the new branch of Harry Potter World: Diagon Alley, for the first time. Diagon Alley was like walking into that book. (roaring) Just like the- (screaming) Oh my God! (laughs hysterically) Yeah! (laughing continues) That was scary! The beginning of this year was just full of Shadowhunters stuff for me. I had so much fun doing discussion
videos for every episode. And then in March, for the release of Lady Midnight, I got to make a video with a bunch of the cast and I got to interview Cassandra Clare, which is such a big deal for me. She is my favorite author. When I started reading her books, I never, ever thought that that would be a thing that I would get to do. Oh my God. I, for a brief period, got super into hooping. If you haven’t watched emmmabooks, she’s fantastic. She does hoop dance and she’s super good at it
and it looks so fun And it’s totally like right up my alley Because I’ve been obsessed with
hula hooping forever and I love dance. It only took two and a half months before it broke me. Turns out, my back is way too fucked up from my many years of tumbling and cheerleading to handle hooping. But I absolutely loved it. It’s such a shame. All I have left are a few videos I took of myself And sent to my mom in
the early stages of practicing. R.I.P. my hooping career, and telling people I’m into hooping and everyone thinking I told them I was into pooping (Kalle Engstorm’s You Do It Just For Fun plays) (Hamilton plays) In April, I attended Yallwest again and we had a Booksplosion meetup. I got to host the book launch event at Barnes and Noble for Sarah J. Mass’ A Court of Mist and Fury. And we had so much fun. Like you can tell the audience
was just super into her books So all my weird questions went over super well because everyone knew everything about her world. BEA this year was in Chicago,
which was a whole new thing for me Because the four years I’ve been going
it’s always been in New York We had a Booksplosion panel at Bookcon this year. I teared up walking out, just seeing the amount of people in the room and feeling the support. I was so touched and moved by
the amount of people I met that day. Oh, this is big. I made the transition from regular lipstick
to liquid matte lipstick. My lipstick-on-the-teeth problems have gone way down. Thank you liquid lipstick. In June, Kat, Jesse, and I hosted a Booksplosion cosplay event, pre-vidcon, at Barnes and Noble. It was so much fun to dress-up as our favorite characters And see you guys come out
dressed up as your favorite characters. Oh my gosh. Just overall, this was the year of Hamilton. The year Hamilton really burst onto the scene.
It’s everywhere. I got to see Hamilton with my mom. It was my birthday present this year and it was, like,
the best birthday present ever. I saw the show with the usual cast. I got to go to Comicon again this year. I went with Sasha and Natasha. I got moderate Sarah J. Mass’ Comicon panel. We cosplayed. We cosplayed for the first time at Comicon. We did a mash-up. So we were
Hogwarts house Disney princesses. Eight years after the Twilight craze, Natasha and I finally made our way up to Forks, Washington. Which was so cool. I did my first unorganized meetup with Natasha in Portland and I was really nervous about it. But it ended up going so well and I met so many of you guys and you were so nice. (upbeat music) We just finished the meet-up. How was the meet-up? Audience: Booooo. (laughter) No, but really, how was it? Audience: Yeah! It’s Lorelai Gilmore’s doppelganger: seventeen-year-old version. (music continues) Xtinemay13 on Bookstagram Hi! (music continues) Natasha: What’s in there? Christine: Rare stuff! Christine: That was so loud… Lost, lost, lost Who the heck is Larry? Natasha: Christine gets lost in Portland. (laughter) Natasha: Every day I’m huffling,
make today your bitch Christine: “I’m a fucking professional” bookholder That one is so me. (music) In October, I went to New York Comicon again. We had a Booktube panel. I got to interview the Shadowhunters
cast again about season two. We saw Puffs. Guys, you’re in New York and you’re a
Harry Potter fan? Go see Puffs! I laughed for a good two hours straight there. In November, I got to attend Yallfest again. At Yallfest, I got to meet and do a
video with Veronica Roth Another one of my favorite authors. She wrote Divergent. I finally dabbled into yoga this year, which seems to be the only thing I can do without hurting my back. And exercise and fitness is something I really
want to work on getting better at. Like, be more regular. I just want to get on a set, at least going to yoga twice a week, schedule. 2016 was the year of Moana, and Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts movie. Leonardo DiCaprio finally got that Oscar. Fuck yeah! And lastly, the thing I think I am most proud of this year. I wrote a book I wrote my book. I finished the first draft in June. And the second draft in August. And I’ve been working on my third draft ever since. I’m so excited about it. I loved writing it. I love making it better. I love thinking about how to make it better. And just-I’ve loved this process And it’s been so amazing sharing that journey with
you guys with the writing videos all year. I’m so happy I did that. And I will continue to so it as we go along. My big goal for next year is that I want to get on the track to being published. The Gilmore Girl revival was this year. It was the year the nineties came back. Chokers are totally in again. Velvet is in again. Which is kind of mind boggling for me. It’s the first time that like fashion that
I was alive for is back. Lady Gaga dropped JoAnne. It was the first time in ten years, that every other year, Taylor Swift did not drop an album. Like this was the Taylor Swift album drop year and there was no Taylor Swift album. Wow! I just put a really tragic spin on this video, If it’s been a really hard life year for you
and you’re having trouble, I hope things start to get better in the New Year. Everyone has these moments, these
points where they feel hopeless. And I’ve started to really try to focus
on in those moments is that It’s always usually after the worst moments
that the best moments will come. You have to have those shit moments
to really enjoy the good moments. If you need to put your year in perspective, write down the things you did so you don’t forget them. I’m so glad that I started making these videos. It’s like a little time capsule of every year for me. Here’s to 2017 Let’s move forward and accomplish our goals. Be passionate, be kind. Do that thing that you’ve always wanted to do. I’m Christine, thank you so much for watching, I will see you in the New Year. (upbeat music) Aaah! (upbeat music continues) (screaming and laughter) (music speed increases) This is a jar of dirt! They sent me a jar of dirt! I look good like this! (upbeat music) A message from the king! A message from the king! (singing) A message from the king *music*

  1. Help. I am an intense Harry Potter fan (I have a fan account on tumblr) but I like the Twilight series and there is a huge feud between the Twilight and HP fandoms and I will always choose Harry over Twilight but I always pretend that I hate Twilight because everyone would shame me if they know I actually like it. I have stayed up super late reading Twilight because it was so good but I can never reread the series or else everyone will find out! I know you love both series a lot so I NEED YOUR HELP.

  2. I LOVE THAT YOU HOOPED TO HAMILTON

And also, this video was so inspiring. 2016 was one of the toughest years of my life and 2017 is definitely the year to make my dreams start coming true! I loved all your videos last year, Christine <3 Excited for more amazing content from you!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  3. Christine you're such an inspiration!!!!! You're hands down my favourite youtuber even though I only found ur channel a month ago lol

  4. Omg Christine, I love this video along with the others you have done in the past like this one, they bring back so many memories of watching the videos you have mentioned and all the vlogs. You are amazing! my 2016 was tough for me with my book and the publishing process, I got rejected so many times and I don't say it enough but the end of 2016 was better because I went to a writing conference and I got a partial request from an editor at a publishing house, now all I have to do is look for an agent and hopefully I get published so the end of 216 was better and setting up for a better 2017! but there were good things in 2016, I transferred colleges and I'm going to peruse my English Degree in my new school which I love! This was a great video like the others and I can't wait to see more of your adventures! I'm going to bookcon in June and I hope to see and meet you again and talk to you in person without getting nervous like last time haha. Over all fantastic video, I look forward to more and good luck on your novel you can do it!

  5. I am so happy to see you so blessed and accomplished, Christine. Honestly I didn't feel a shred of envy. I was too busy crying tears of happiness that God has showered you with so much blessings your entire life because you. Deserve. Them. You fight and struggle and do your absolute best to be the best that you can be while still being so optimistic and beautiful and kind to others, even when I know you must have experienced some very negative stuff last year. We all do. But you, you always focus on the positives. And this is why I do not feel jealous, but PROUD of you. You've done well. Good job. And God will forever be blessing you. You can count on that. <3

  6. 2016 has been the best year of my life so far. I graduated high school, had the best summer ever that I spent with my best friends. It's been lots of laughing, crying and a bit of alcohol. I visited my dad for the first time in many years (my parents are divorced and me and my dad have complicated relationship) and it went super well. Then I moved to London (I am from Germany) and I am working here at the moment. It's just been great so far. I absolutely loved this year. And I hope 2017 will be even betterโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
