Welcome to the 19th edition of Sculpture by
the Sea, Bondi, displayed along the 2 kilometre Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk and open between
22 October and 8 November. This year’s exhibition features over 100
sculptures by artists from Australia and nineteen countries across the world. Some highlights
of this year’s exhibition include “Nest 06” by Jakub Geltner from the Czech Republic,
“flying fish” by Gillie & Marc Schattner, “Middleground” by Philip Spelman and “Kakashi”
by Zilvinas Kempinas from Lithuania, as well as some very ambitious works by local emerging
artists including “Convergence” by Caitlin Roseby, Matthew Asimakis and Clarence Lee
and “Anemone” by Harry Vasutabu. Each weekend throughout the exhibition we’re
giving you the chance to hear directly from some of the artists at the free Macquarie
Artist Talks, held in Marks Park. We invite you to sit back, relax and listen to what
inspired these artists and their creative journey to Bondi for Sculpture by the Sea.
On Thursday 22 October, be sure to watch out for the announcement of the Macquarie Group
Sculpture Prize of $60,000, the most generous sculpture prize in NSW. In addition, vote
for your favourite sculpture in our Allen’s people’s choice prize or our kids’ choice
prize, generously supported by one of our donors Rebel Penfold-Russell!
We are a not for profit organisation, so please consider making a gold coin donation to help
us to continue to produce Sculpture by the Sea each year.
