Hello, I’m Christine (starts singing) ♫ and it’s timeeeee ♫ ♫ For the favourite books of 2016 ♫ ♫ My name is Christine, it rhymes ♫ ♫ So sit back and relax, 2016’s almost dead ♫ ♫ I’m gonna take you through my
favourite books I have read ♫ Hey! (music) Alas, another year of reading has come to an end If you’re new here, this is a tradition of mine. At the end of every year, I do a favorite books video And those favorite books are the favorite books that I’ve read IN that year They haven’t necessarily come out in this year, but I’ve read them this year And I’m adding them to my “All Time Favorite Books” list Now I have a favorite books video for
2012, 2013, 2014, AND 2015. Shit! (chuckles) I’ve been doing this for a while And if any book or series have already
been mentioned on those videos, Then I’m not going to mention them again on this video So if there’s something you know I love
and I haven’t talked about it *click click sounds* Probably already on the list With that in mind, let us begin It’s been a very different year for me because
I’ve been writing my own book And I’ve definitely read a lot less because of that I’ve been concentrating so much of my free time
on writing instead of reading And I think that definitely reflects in the number of favorite books I have this year Like not that many made the cut I liked so many books that I read this year But there’s a very small amount that got to that place
in my heart where I would call it my favorite And I don’t know if that’s like a product of getting older It’s harder to get through that thick wall of shell you have around your emotional favorite section of your heart Or if I just didn’t read as many books that I absolutely loved this year The first on my list is one that
I’ve been talking a lot about lately And that is The “Illuminae” series! By Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff I never would’ve thought from the
cover of “Illuminae” back in the day That this would be, like,
a favorite, favorite series of mine I know I said this a thousand
hundred times but like, man The audiobooks for these stories, though! These are Sci-fi thrillers that keep you guessing around every turn and the characters are so great and snarky and funny and they are told in the most creative, coolest ways Definitely. Definitely. Definitely. Listen to the audiobook while you’re reading THEY’RE SO GOOD. There’s a third book coming out next year!
I am so excited The next book I have on my list this year is one
that is the first book in a “duology?” But I loved it and I’m so excited for the second book WAYFARER And that is, of course, “Passenger” by Alexandra Bracken It was the first book that I read last year, I think I loved it as to be expected. I love everything Alexandra Bracken writes! There’s time travel and pirates
and romance and history stuff! I love it The next favorite on my list this year is a favorite
that you’re probably expecting ” Lady Midnight” by Cassandra Clare! This. Series. I am so excited for where it’s going This is a first book in a series, and
I am breaking my rule to put it on here but I don’t care cause it’s amazing And it’s, like, the 9th Shadowhunter book I’ve read I feel like I’m–I’m allowed If you haven’t started “Lady Midnight” yet pick dat shit up If you don’t know, Cassy is writing this
series, which is “The Dark Artifices” And “The Last Hours” and they’re
going to switch off and intertwine Much like “The Infernal Devices” and “The Mortal Instruments” AND I’M SO EXCITED So it’s going to be two TDA books and
then we get the first “Last Hours” book and the last TDA book and 2 more “Last Hours” books *party music* Lady Midnight. Excellent. You have to read the other ones before you read this. Yes, you do Another Cassandra Clare story that I want
to add on my favorite list this year because it was such a surprise and,
like, I don’t know if it counts as a book but I’m putting it on my favorites list “The Shadowhunter Academy” If you haven’t seen any of
my “Shadowhunter Academy” videos Yelling about how you have to read it
if you read Cassandra Clare’s books The Shadowhunter books Here we are right now You have to read it. You want to read it. You’re missing out I have a whole video explaining why you have to read it so I’m not just going to like regurgitate that now JUST KNOW YOU HAVE TO And it’s on my “Favorites of the Year” list because I was so blown away cause I thought
it was just gonna be not good at all because the Bane Chronicles
were not impressin’ me much (sings) ♪ ah, ah, ahhh, ah ♪ ♪ when money grows on trees ♪ ♪ Man, I feel like a woman ♪ ♪ ah, ahh ♪ Ok. I’m back Next on my 2016 list is one that I just read It was so excellent It was heartwarming and relevant and I flew through it
at the speed of light, and that is “The Sun Is Also a Star” by Nicola Yoon Not only does it have an amazingly gorgeous cover, it’s also amazing gorgeous on the inside Two amazingly, interesting, and
fun diverse characters is the leads It’s one of those books best going in
without knowing much about it. It was just all-around fantastic and I can’t
wait to read “Everything, Everything” now There’s one more book on my list this year… THAT’S IT, I KNOW. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT’S IT?! I loved so many books but none of
them are, like, settled in my heart Where I–I loved them so much
that they’re my favorites forever It’s a weird feeling–looking back on what I read this year. I mean, like yeah, that was fantastic But, like, it doesn’t make it onto the “Favorites” list Because it’s just not my favorite–favorite, favorite forever So for the final–final addition to
my “Favorites” list for 2016 (Christine imitates drums) Wow, that was really fun (continues drums imitation while
real drums play in the background) “The Court of Thorns and Roses” series by Sarah J. Maas Now, the second book in the series came out this year–
“A Court of Mist and Fury” and it was absolutely fantastic The best! “A Court of Thorns and Roses” I read last year–I read it And I liked it But it was not a favorite yet and wow,
after book two, that has changed! WOW My favorite book that I read this year–
like it was a tight race between “Lady Midnight” and “A Court of Mist and Fury” but “A Court of Mist and Fury” has to win My draw to it is so strong I must have it. It’s the best (sings) ♫ It’s the favorite book of the year ♫ You shouldn’t read it yet if you are not of age
for some rated R content because there is some rated R content in that book Oh, if you don’t know what this series is about It started off as a Beauty and the Beast retelling,
and then book two was just like… Whoooaaaoooo (pleased clicking sounds) I’d love to hear what your favorites were this year–
what made it for you that didn’t make it for me What was your favorite book of the year? I have a Twitter. On Twitter, I’m @XTINEMAY On Snapchat, I’m @XTINEMAY. I’m not a big snapper but I do have the snapchats On Instagram, I’m @XTINEMAY I have a Facebook–facebook.com/CMRPRODUCTIONZ And–and I have a Tumblr–polandbananas20.tumblr.com Thank you so much for watching. I am Christine. I make videos every Tuesday I will see you next time Goodbye (music)

  1. i failed 2016 reading. i read carry on and the raven cycle series. other than that it was just books i had to read for college :/

  2. You should read Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger! It's a fantasy book meant for younger ages (like the HP and PJ series were) but they're literally some of the best books I've ever read

  3. I have a lot of emotions, but they don't come out easily. So when you are able make me so excited and pumped with your energy and humor, it's really nice. Thank you for that ^_^
On a more relevant note, I really need to get around to reading Illuminae…

  4. i saw this series as different retellings, so like, ACOTAR was beauty and the beast and ACOMAF was persephone and hades? i wonder what ACOWAR will be!! but idk maybe thats just me reading into things @polandbananasBOOKS

  5. YUP LADY MIDNIGHT AND TALES FROM THE SHADOWHUNTER ACADEMY WAS ALSO IN MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF 2016 VIDEO..lmao i feel like cassie's new books are always going to be in my favorites list.. i really need to get a court of mist & fury, cause i enjoyed ACOTAR a lot..

  6. I wonder if you've already read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It's really cool! It's eerie, diverse, it was like the best death note ever… It's about this girl who committed suicide but before she did she recorded tapes and sent the, to people who were a reason of her suicide… It's like, plays glorious music

  7. I loved this video Christine! We had a lot of the same favorites πŸ™‚ https://www.theodysseyonline.com/the-7-best-ya-books-of-2016

  8. LITERALLY ANYTHING COLLEEN HOOVER LIKE HOLY HELL SHES SUCH A GOOD AUTHOR!! It Ends With Us is sooooooooo insanely good. LIke i couldn't get over it after a month. I tell everyone to get it. It started with Confess when i got it for free with another book download and honestly I didn't know i was about to be thrown into the everlasting emotional loop that is Colleen Hoovers writing. Couldn't put it down, cant put any of her books down, and I am happily being cuddled with her words.

  9. i don't know if any of you know this serie, but you should realllly read the foxhole court serie (official name is All for the game) from nora sakavic. It's my favourite serie ever (above shadowhunters, percy jackson, the raven cycle etc.) It's probably almost impossible to buy in a book store, but you can buy it on amazon and the ebooks are really cheap (the first ebook is free).

  10. aCoMaF is said to be a hades and persephone retelling πŸ™‚ which i think is soooo cool after the whole beauty and the beast retelling :))))) I JUST LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH I CAN'T HOLD IN MY LOVE

  11. Stalking Jack the Ripper by: Kerri Maniscalco. I love this book because it's a mystery thriller, plus I'm obsessed with Jack the Ripper.πŸ˜„

  12. SHANIA TWAIN!!!!! AHHH!!! You don't even understand the nostalgia you just gave me!! That woman was my idol as a kid <3

  13. I didn't read as many books as I wanted to this year but I read a lot of good ones so I feel slightly better, but still wish I had read more

  14. Honest to God,
I subscribed to you purely because of that intro. I could just tell you were someone I wanted to watch.
Now to watch the rest of the video!

  15. I can't believe Harry Potter and the Cursed Child didn't make it on your list. My absolute favourite along with lady midnight and the winners kiss

  16. When I saw that the Cursed Child was on the video cover, I was ready to fight you on it, because it 1) wasn't that good, 2) clearly not written by J.K.Rowling and 3) had so many plot holes that I just couldn't.
You did, however, entice me into wanting to buy a lot of these books πŸ™‚ The only problem I have with Lady Midnight is that I feel very overwhelmed about thinking that I'd first have to buy and read the previous 8 books…

  17. My fav are definitly Empire of Storms and A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas but if i had to choose between those two it would be Empire of Storms!! πŸ˜€

  18. I LOVE Lady Midnight so much omg. But I have to say that my favourite read of 2016 was Me Before You. It's one of my all time favourite books now!

  19. I am so late for these series, but I read the TMI series and TIF series by Cassandra Clare!!!! My fave!!!! I read the 2 series intertwined and it was amazing!!!!!! She is so amazing at wrapping up the series and now I'm reading lady midnight!!!! I'm soooo excited!! Like I literally finished City of Heavenly Fire last night so I just started Lady Midnight

  20. we finally uploaded our fave books of 2016 vid! please please please check it out!! we love your videos! πŸ™‚ xxx

  21. TOP 3
1.A Court Of Mist And Fury (like no one saw that coming)
    2.Heartless by Marissa Meyer
    3. The Midnight Star by Marie Lu
These are the books that made their way into my heart this year

  22. Actually ACOTAR is still beauty and the beast like. Tamlin is Gaston and Rhysand is the beast, she had to make a deal with the beast (Rhys) to save a life (her own) and she fell in love with him while gaston (Tamlin the tool) is still trying to get her back

  23. Please do a book talk on the 9th girl or Cold Cold heart even down the darkest road all by Tami Hoag. She's my favourite writter! She got me into reading.

  24. I hate how everyone's talking about how they've finished all TMI and TID series, and are up to the latest release of ACOTAR and Throne of glass series, and then here I am and I just started reading TMI (still waiting for my TID series), just up to Queen of Shadows, and haven't even read ACOTAR (yet). Where have I been lol

  25. Do I have to read the Infernal Devices before reading Lady Midnight? I've just finished TMI and Lady Midnight seems to be such an amazing book!

  26. One of my favorites this year was Firstlife by Gena Showalter. It's will be a series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you haven't read it already I would highly recommend it.

  27. idk if anyone has this thing where you read a book and have to wait for the second book. when it comes out you just go who the fuck are you WTF happened? I needa reread the previous book…wait for me court of mist and fury..

  28. A court of Mist and Fury was sooo good!!! my favorite book of all time 😍😍😍 I'm in love with RhysandπŸ’›

  29. Your practically bouncing off the walls, what ever your on I want some! It would have been nice if you could tell us what the books are about. I'm watching this video hoping it will help me choose my next book to read.

  30. i am about to finish the court of thorns and roses book and i absolutely love it and i am sure to love the rest of the series!

  31. Have to go buy A Court of Mist and Fury. Every favourite book video I've read that book is in. I'm also going to buy Illuminae. It's another recommended book because I'm a sci-fi girl.

  32. OMG i only just started reading ACOTAR on Monday and now I'm up to the final book!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT IT HAS IN STORE FOR ME!!!
