How Powerful Are Tauren? – World of Warcraft Lore

Hello guys this is Doronsmovies and today
I will be talking about the tauren and how powerful they are. Covering their history, characteristics and
achievements. So without further ado let’s get into the
lore! Long ago the tauren were once known as the
Yaungol. They lived in peace under the tutelage of
the demigod Cenarius. Due to their benevolent nature they grew weary
of having to share their hunting grounds with the trolls, so they decided to search for
new territory in the southern part of the continent. Unfortunately they received a lot more than
they had bargained for. The Mogu Empire had enslaved them and impressed
by the Yaungol, they had flesh-shaped the race. Their strength and intelligence were increased
and they were also a lot more aggressive. For generations they suffered as slaves but
during the Pandaren revolution they had joined the fight. Freeing themselves from the Mogu and having
lost a lot of their heritage, they split apart. One group would go North becoming known as
the Taunka, one group remained, retaining the name Yaungol and one would go towards
the Well of Eternity becoming known as the tauren. Once again they had reunited with their teacher
Cenarius and had returned to their ways of nature. Eventually, the Sundering would hit, so being
split apart from the rest of the Yaungol, the tauren would become their own race. They participated in the war against the demons
and for the next ten thousand years really just survived in harmony with nature. After millennia the mighty tauren reached
a pretty dire state. They roamed the plains and split into many
tribes only uniting to fight their common enemy – the centaur. With the help of the arriving orcs and Thrall
they were finally able to deal with the threat. Over time most of the scattered tribes united
under Cairne Bloodhoof and they had reclaimed their lands. They settled mainly in Mulgore, forming the
city of Thunder Bluff. With a civil war, Burning Legion invasions
and many other threats, the tauren were able to survive and thrive. So with this very short history what is the
culture of the tauren like and what are their characteristics? The tauren are one of the biggest and physically
most powerful races. Their height is debatable but on average it
is between 9 to 10 feet which is significantly taller than almost any other race. They also weigh anywhere from 400 to 1000
pounds. They are large and muscular with bull-like
apperance, covered with fur. The tauren also possess horns of various shapes
and sizes which can be used in combat. Their color can be anywhere from black and
white to red or brown with a million different combinations. Now the game itself doesn’t really do them
any justice due to the limitations but the tauren are incredibly large and powerful. A more accurate represenation of their race
is in Warcraft 3. The tauren are so massive that they often
wield giant tree trunks known as tauren totems. Being hit by this weapon could obliterate
almost any enemy smaller than them with just one blow and no amount of armour really is
going to help you against a tauren totem. They also possess such force that they could
shake the ground when they smash it. The skin of the tauren is also very hard so
they can withstand many blows, making them perfect warriors. Surprisingly despite their looks, the tauren
are actually a very peaceful and a noble race. Spirituality is their number one priority
with a large emphasis on reverence for nature and respect for their elders. Due to their genetics, they are natural born
warriors but they only resort to violence when the situation demands it. Now we have seen aggressive tauren that are
kinda evil but it is very rare and a lot of it has to due with their yaungol history and
flesh-shaping. Outside of their class every tauren seeks
indentity as both a hunter and a child of the Earthmother, in this they are very similar
to the orcs. They prove themselves by facing off creatures
of the wilderness and hunting is their greatest honour. Even though hunters, they have multiple primary
classes like the warriors, shamans and the druids. Warriors are protectors of their people that
utilize their natural strength and they are possibly the best race for warriors due to
their brute force. On the other hand, the shamans keep in touch
with their ancestors, increasing the spirituality of their people as well as keeping the balance
with the elements. Druids are very similar to them in this regard,
however instead they focus on nature and keeping harmony with the Earthmother. They help preserve the wilderness and in turn,
they are able to utilize their powers not only in combat but also for the survival of
their people. The tauren are very tribal with a great connection
to their ancestors and respect for their elders. They mainly live in buildings called long
houses and great tents in generally small numbers. Loyalty, family, tradition and honor are the
most important aspects of the tauren people. As tradition dictates, many of them have to
go through rights of passage for various purposes but through them they prove their worth and
earn the respect of their people. When it comes to mounts the kodos are their
go-to mount. They hold great respect for these beasts and
due to their resilience and fearlesness as well as strength, they make for appropriate
war mounts. Outside of just riding they also utilize them
to transport supplies. When it comes to flying, much like the orcs,
they utilize the wyvern which they consider sacred. As one of the oldest races on Azeroth the
tauren have an incredibly rich history, even though most of it has been forgotten. Still they have survived for thousands of
years and even though they had faced extinction they are now stronger than they ever were. Due to their genetics the tauren are possibly
the best race when it comes to warriors as well as druids. Alright and that is all I have for this video. Don’t forget to like and subscribe as it really
helps out and keeps all the content going. Thanks a lot for taking the time out of your
day to watch this video and see you next time!

  1. Based on the poll I posted in the community tab on the channel most of you guys wanted to see the tauren video first. So here it is! 🙂

  2. i really wish they would make the tauren more… minotaur like and aggressive. i mean thats what i saw when i first started playing and made my first character, a tauren druid. never the less one of the most badass races the the horde has to offer, wether you see them as raging minotaurs or raging cheeseburger. still badass 🍔 😤

  3. My favorite playable race! My main is a Tauren Brewmaster. I picked monk because the gameplay felt more fun, but I do regret it a bit lore wise. I transmog him to look more like a shaman or druid. There wasn't really a brutish looking no-armor melee fighter in the game, and there still isn't one that can tank, so Brewmaster will have to do. I wish they added some sort of Berserker class to the game, with blademaster being a spec. Survival hunter is the next best choice but… I dunno. I feel like a Tauren has to be a tank, you know? I might try shaman tanking once classic is here.

  4. Their connection to Nature is quite unique and special, you could say that they were druids long before the Night elves, especially because of Cenarius, sure, they were primitive but unlike other races they were born and are deeply attuned to all things Nature and none respect it more than them. So undoubtably they make some hell of a powerful druids.

  5. Why do you use pounds, not kilograms? all of slovanic nations are using metric system, all of them are such developed, that they're following International System of Units

  6. Could you write on the screen when you says feet translate it to cm? there are people on eu watching you vids too 🙂

  7. I kinda want to see how strong the trolls are.

    Specifically the horde aligned trolls.

I question just how many darkspear there actually are, they’re probably the least populated playable race (not counting any of the allied races)

  8. What is the difference between high mountain tauren and normal ones? Iknow the blessing of cenarios gave them the antlers but are they stronger or weaker than normal tauren?

  9. Huln Highmountain killed hundreds of Demons and killed Tichondrious himself at the War of the Ancients. Later on he banished Deathwing himself from the Highmountain lands, Cairne Bloodhoof died at the age of 107 and according to 'Tides of War' novel, Cairne would have likely won the Mak’gora. He was calm, and it was practically child's play for him to goad Garrosh and use his reckless anger against him. All eyewitness accounts recorded that Cairne was doing well and was winning before he was poisoned. A random Tauren can charge and easily kill dozens of Humans on the battlefield as we can see in the Battle for Azeroth cinematic. They are probably one of the strongest race that Azeroth could offer.

  10. Great video again friend. I have an idea to pitch to maybe get people really interested in your channel but the work on the video will be extremely more demanding. Go back to the "how strong" are classes series but do a vs. video. Meaning a whole episode would be about a warlock vs. a mage using the strongest race combos based off of a natural hero of Azeroth. I am hoping something like this will create huge hype similar to the death battle series. Create straw polls and get the community very active. I really want your channel to flourish and feel something like this could really push your channel to the next level. I would also highly consider the Asmongold audience and maybe make your first video about warriors vs. another class. But man the editing on those videos will be really rough.

  11. I wish the Tauren had more Major characters than just Baine and Hamuul. Even tho part of the Cenarion circle Hamuul is old and past his prime, and Baine isn't accomplishing that much and is too scared to stand up to Sylvannas. Give the tauren more love, Maybe have baine gain power by becoming one with the earth mother and being powered by nature.

  12. Aaaaaaaaaand now I wana roll Tauren 😂 hopefully 8.1 will make the game atleast a little more better. It won’t fix the game but hopefully make a start.

  13. Tauren are very unique. I miss roaming around Mulgore feeling slow but empowered lol they’re so big. Their downside is their pacifism,it’s almost lazy. Otherwise they’d one of the most powerful presences in Azeroth

  14. Nice video! Taurens are my favorite race in this game I played for long 13 years! I love baine just like I love his father hahahaha
    ISH’NE ALO’PORAH!
    For the earth mother!

  15. I read somewhere that blizzard changed the height of Taurens cause of the doors in the game they could not fit in one of the books it tells the Taurens Hieght is around 8 to 12 feet tall and 800 to 2000 pounds in wieght I would like to see that in the game one day love my Tauren ….. the Taurens hieght and gnomes hieght was changed in the alpha model of the game Taurens couldn't fit in doors and gnomes would get dismounted running threw puddles of water

  16. Hunch back ruins the tauren race for me. I would love to play a race like the taunka which is more upright and cooler looking in my opinion.

  17. I think Taurens (from Kalimdor) are more Shamans than Druids since they forgot Cenarius teaching for a long time

  18. I am sure no one will care but you missed on feat of strength that cairne bloodhoof did, and that was throwing a mountain at the quillboar.

  19. FoR The COW.
I was tauren druid but am ching to troll coz I need hast coz I was the main healar for my guild but now fuck blizard iam quit
