Hey everyone! It’s Elvira, a knitwear designer. And today’s episode is going to be very unusual for two reasons. First of all, because it’s in English with the subtitels in Japanese. And second of all, because it’s going to be a vlog because I am in Florence! I’m here visiting the exhibition called Pitti Filati and this is one of the key exhibitions for the whole knitting industry. Because all of the recent trends in knitwear as well as inspirations and then new yarns introduced by spinning and knitting companies are represented here. I’m here in search of inspiration obviously, then I would like to check some recent trends in knitwear. And I would like to show you guys what it looks like, this exhibition. So let’s go and check it out. The exhibition takes place in Florence at Fortezza da Basso twice a year. This summer 85th edition was representing the world previews of knitwear yarn collections for fall / winter 2020/2021, and the winter edition of Pitti Filati is usually held in January and features spring summer yarns for the knitting industry. There are many international attendees from all over the world, designers from the key fashion companies who take part in Pitti Filati. The trends established at the exhibition can affect other sectors of the global production process, including the textile industry. This year Pitti Filati launched a new project called Sustainable. It was represented in the specific area, and was dedicated to sustainability in the manufacturing process through the using of raw and eco materials and avoiding wastes. This Japanese company is a great example of the eco trend because they use natural dyes. There are different sections at the exhibition. And I am heading to the one called «Heritage». This area was a creative and experimental laboratory and launched the trends for the future seasons. I have got a colour card for the autumn winter 2020/2021 trend colors. The contest called Feel the Yarn that was also introduced during this edition of Pitti Filati, challenged the creativity of students from the best international fashion schools. They were using the yarns by the most highly qualified Italian manufacturers in their works. All the visitors had a chance to give their voice for the most favourite design. Yeey, I’ve just finished. I have been here from 9 am, and the exhibition works till 6. It lasts for 3 days. This is the second day. And on the third day there are not that many people. Most of the people are there for the first and the second days. I hope guys you liked it and it was useful.
